TUC Demands Public Apology from Dangote Refinery Over Worker Dismissals

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has called on the management of Dangote Petrochemical Refinery to issue a public apology for the dismissal of over 800 Nigerian workers.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, September 29, 2025, TUC Secretary General, Comrade Nuhu Toro, stated that the refinery’s actions violated the constitutional rights of the sacked workers.

Toro was addressing the ongoing dispute between Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) regarding unionization. He emphasized the TUC’s stance, saying, “The rift between Dangote and PENGASSAN is a concern for the TUC because PENGASSAN is our affiliate. No one can mistreat our affiliate without the TUC responding.”

He further noted that both PENGASSAN and TUC were represented at a meeting held on September 8, 2025, at the Ministry of Labour to address the issue.
