In a significant breakthrough in the fight against banditry in the North-West, troops have rescued 11 abducted persons from Kaibaba village in Turba ward, Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The victims — seven women, three babies, and one male teenager — were freed during a successful operation in a forest in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where they had been held captive by suspected bandits.
The rescue operation, carried out by joint security forces, marks another milestone in the ongoing crackdown on criminal elements across the region. The victims were handed over to the Sokoto State Government following their rescue.
Receiving the rescued individuals at the Government House in Sokoto, Deputy Governor Alhaji Idris Gobir praised the security operatives for their gallantry, professionalism, and timely intervention.
He reassured citizens of the state government’s unwavering commitment to security, emphasizing that Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration continues to prioritise the safety of lives and property.
“This successful operation demonstrates the synergy between security agencies and government authorities. We will continue to support all efforts aimed at ending insecurity in our communities,” Gobir stated.
The victims are currently undergoing medical evaluation and rehabilitation before being reunited with their families.
