Troops Neutralise 16 Boko Haram Terrorists in Failed Infiltration Attempt

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised 16 Boko Haram terrorists during a foiled attempt to infiltrate the 25 Taskforce Brigade headquarters in Damboa, near the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State.

According to military sources, the attack occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Friday when troops on sentry duty detected suspicious movement of armed insurgents approaching the base. The troops, supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), swiftly engaged the attackers with sustained indirect fire.

A fierce gun battle reportedly ensued and lasted for about two hours, forcing the insurgents to retreat into the forest. In the aftermath, 16 terrorists were confirmed dead, while several others reportedly fled with gunshot wounds.

Recovered from the scene were a cache of weapons, including rifles, ammunition, and materials used in making improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The Nigerian Army commended the swift response and bravery of the troops and civilian fighters, reaffirming its commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring peace in the North-East region.
