Great Britain women’s Olympic hockey team have been defeated by Netherlands in the semi-finals at Tokyo 2020.

The defeat marks the end of their defence after they were totally beaten 5-1 by the Dutch team.

On medals, the only hope they have at the moment is to play for the chance of bronze on Friday.

In the first half Felice Albers and Marloes Keetels scored two goals put the Dutch in the ahead, while Maria Verschoor it three by doing justice to a penalty and Albers scored the fourth the third quarter.

The fifth goal was scored by Frederique Matla by rounding off a masterclass from the world’s number one side.

Losing this game means that Great Britain have lost their Olympic women’s hockey title.
