Bola Ahmed Tinubu Replaces Kayode Egbetokun with Olatunji Disu as IGP
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, with senior police officer Olatunji Disu.
The development, announced on Tuesday, marks a leadership change at the apex of the Nigeria Police Force. Disu, who has held several strategic commands within the force, is expected to assume duties immediately as the new Inspector-General of Police.
Egbetokun, who was appointed in June 2023, served as the nation’s top police officer during a period marked by ongoing internal security challenges and policing reforms.
Before his elevation, Disu served as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State and previously headed the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), where he was involved in high-profile anti-crime operations.
The presidency has yet to release detailed reasons for the change, but the appointment is seen as part of efforts to reposition the Nigeria Police Force for improved internal security and operational effectiveness.
More details shortly.
