Tinubu Nominates Dr. Bernard Doro as Minister, Replacing Former Humanitarian Affairs Minister

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro of Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, forwarding his name to the Senate for confirmation.

The nomination, confirmed by a State House press release from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, comes after the vacancy created by Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda. Prof. Yilwatda, who previously served as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, was recently elected as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.

Dr. Doro, born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, brings a wealth of experience spanning over two decades in diverse fields both in the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

He has a multidisciplinary background that includes clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement. Academically, Dr. Doro holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA focused on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.

A highly experienced healthcare professional, Dr. Doro is an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with significant frontline experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). His work in the NHS covered urgent care, walk-in centres, GP practices, and hospital settings.

Beyond his professional career, Dr. Doro has also been actively involved in youth mentorship and various social impact initiatives across the diaspora and local communities.

If confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Doro will replace the former minister from Plateau State in the Federal Executive Council.
