Tinubu Inaugurates National Assembly Service Commission, Permanent Secretaries, Holds FEC Meeting
President Bola Tinubu presided over an official ceremony on Monday, swearing in 13 members of the National Assembly Service Commission and two permanent secretaries at the Federal Civil Service. The inauguration, held at the Council Chambers in Abuja, preceded the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The event, attended by key government officials including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume, marked a significant step in the administration’s efforts to strengthen governance and administrative structures.
Dr. Saviour Enyiekere, an environmental specialist and former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Senate President, was sworn in as Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission for a renewable five-year term.
Twelve additional commission members, representing the six geopolitical zones, took their oaths of office. These include:
-Northwest: Suleiman Hunkuyi and Yusuf Tabuka
-Northeast: Aminu Malle and Lawan Mahmud
-Northcentral: Mark Tersoo and Salihu Balogun
-Southwest: Taiwo Olukemi Oluga and Afeez Ipeza-Balogun
-Southeast: Dr. Nnanna Kalu and Festus Odii
– South-South: Patrick Giwa and Mary Ekpenyong
The newly appointed commission members will also serve for a renewable term of five years.
President Tinubu also swore in Dr. Mukthar Malam Madori and Rafiu Adelana as permanent secretaries within the Federal Civil Service.
Prior to the commencement of the inauguration, the council observed a minute of silence in honor of the late former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dubem Onyia, who passed away on March 10, 2025, at the age of 73.
Following the inauguration, President Tinubu proceeded to chair the Federal Executive Council meeting.
