SUPER EAGLES:- Gusau opens up on Chelle contract situation
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has clarified the contract situation of Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, amid growing speculation following Nigeria’s impressive outing at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Chelle’s tactical acumen and the Super Eagles’ strong performance at the tournament have reportedly attracted interest from several countries, sparking rumours over his immediate future with the Nigerian national team.
Gusau dismissed talks of a contract extension at this stage, stressing that the federation remains comfortable with the existing agreement.
The NFF president’s comments underline the federation’s position that Chelle remains firmly in charge of the Super Eagles, despite external interest, and that any future negotiations will follow due process and timing.
Eric Chelle was appointed in January 2025 and still has significant time left on his current contract, with the NFF keen to maintain stability as the team prepares for upcoming international commitments.
