Starmer Backs Buckingham Palace’s Decision To Strip Prince Andrew Of Titles, Pays Tribute To Virginia Giuffre’s Family

London, UK – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has expressed full support for Buckingham Palace’s decision to remove Prince Andrew’s remaining royal titles amid renewed scrutiny following the publication of Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir.

In a statement on Friday, Starmer said he “fully supports the Palace’s action” and extended his condolences to Giuffre’s family, describing her as “a courageous woman whose story has resonated across the world.”

Buckingham Palace announced late Thursday that Andrew had been stripped of his “Prince” title and would vacate his royal residence in Windsor, marking the latest and most decisive move to distance the monarchy from the long-running controversy surrounding the Duke of York.

The move follows months of mounting public and political pressure over Andrew’s private life and his past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In her memoir, released earlier this month, Giuffre reiterated her claim that she was coerced into having sex with Andrew on three occasions while still a teenager — allegations the Duke has consistently denied.

The Palace’s announcement did not directly reference Giuffre’s memoir but cited the need to “protect the integrity of the Crown and uphold public confidence in the institution.”

Royal watchers say this development effectively ends Andrew’s formal connection to the monarchy, leaving him a private citizen with no official duties or privileges.
