Portugal did not only beat Hungary 3-0 in the ongoing Euro 2020 but the team’s star Cristiano Ronaldo, player made history after the final whistle was blown in Budapest.
Talented Portuguese player, Ronaldo became the top scorer in men’s European Championship history, after converting an 87th-minute penalty for his 10th goal in the competition, overtaking France’s Michel Platini on nine goals.
Portugal’s third goal, which was Ronaldo’s second in the game which more than 60,000 fans watched came only a few minutes later when he took the ball around goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi.
Hungary, before conceded three times, had looked on course for an unlikely draw against the defending champions.
The goals started coming in, in the 84th minute of the highly competitive match when Raphael Guerreiro’s shot with the outside of the foot took a massive deflection off defender Willi Orban to break Hungary’s brave resistance.
Meanwhile, in the other Group F game on Tuesday, world Cup holders France, beat former champions Germany 1-0 in Munich.
