Hours after former US Olympics gymnastics coach John Geddert was charged with sexual assault and human trafficking, he killed himself.
This development was revealed revealed on Thursday afternoon by the office of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
Ms Nessel had outlined 24 felony charges facing Geddert, in the morning, BBC reports.
On his work history, Geddert has worked closely with team doctor Larry Nassar who abused hundreds of athletes. He was also head of the women’s gymnastics team in 2012.
Nassar abused more than 250 girls.and was sentenced to up to 300 years in jail in 2018.
Geddert, 63, had owned the training facility in Michigan where Nassar had served as the gym’s doctor.
On his previous accusations, a number of gymnasts accused him of abusive behaviour when they testified during Nassar’s trial.
On the case so far, the attorney general’s office said he was expected to turn himself in on Thursday afternoon but did not appear.
