After Neymar’s scintillating display in the game against Paris Saint-Germain the Brazilian indicated interest in playing with former team-mate, Lionel Messi next season, in the French League.
Interestingly, Neymar who used to be in the Spanish league with Messi, left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, but his comment has come after Wednesday night’s game which PSG came out victorious against Manchester United.
According to Sky Sports, Messi wanted to leave Barcelona in the summer, but reluctantly stayed after now-former president Josep Maria Bartomeu insisted the Argentine’s €700m release clause had to be met in order for him to depart.
Meanwhile, Messi will be free to negotiate with other clubs from January because the 33-year-old’s contract at the Nou Camp will expire at the end of this season.
As at the period Messi threatened to leave Barcelona, Manchester City’s chief operating officer claimed the Premier League club have the financial strength to sign Messi, but head coach Pep Guardiola recently cooled talk of a possible reunion by insisting he wants the six-time Ballon d’Or winner to see out his career at Barca.
