Chelsea have signed former Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Thiago Silva.

Silva confirmed that the reason for his move to Chelsea is to “challenge for honours”

Meanwhile, Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has also made up his mind to challenge for honours by embarking on a summer spree.

On his move to Chelsea, days after falling narrowly short in the Champions League Final, Silva completed his free transfer move to Stamford Bridge.

Part of his contract involves an option of 12 months extension, apart from a one-year contract he has signed with the Blues.

So far on Chlesea’s defence, Silva will be a good addition, after left-back Ben Chilwell, was signed on   Wednesday to restructure Frank Lampard’s defence.

Silva has made comments concerning his new deal with Chelsea.

In the words: “I am so happy to be joining Chelsea. I am delighted to be a part of Frank Lampard’s exciting squad for next season and I’m here to challenge for honours. See you soon Chelsea fans, I look forward to playing at Stamford Bridge very soon.”
