After losing 5-3 to Liverpool on Wednesday, Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard warned the Reds not to be ‘too arrogant’ about their Premier League title triumph.
Lampard actually directed his advice to some of Liverpool’s backroom room staff. 90 Min reports.
Although, before the match ended, there were events that triggered Lampards statement. Lampard actually displayed a level of frustration towards the Reds after Liverpool scored their second goal.
The frustration later became a fiery confrontation between the two managers with Lampard looking particularly frustrated towards the Reds’ bench.
The actual reason for the misunderstanding between both managers started after from a Mateo Kovačić’s tackle on Sadio Mané, which was obviously not a foul, but was still deemed one.
The result of the foul was a strike from a free kick by Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Lampard who shared his thoughts on Sky Sports said, “For me it wasn’t a foul from Kovačić and there were little things that weren’t going,”
“On the bench, I’ve got no problem with Jurgen Klopp, he’s managed his team and it’s fantastic.
“Some of the bench, it’s a fine line between when you’re winning and they’ve won the league, fair play to Liverpool, but also don’t get too arrogant with it. In match play you get emotional and that was it.”
