Ex-Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, says quitting Trabzonspor was one of the hardest career and life decisions he has had to make.
Mikel’s contract was on Tuesday mutually terminated by Trabzonspor due to comments he made on Instagram where he said, “I do not feel comfortable and don’t want to play football in this situation.”
Mikel joined the Black Sea Storm in June 2019 on a two-year deal but only spent nine months at the title-chasing club before the termination of his deal.
Reacting to the termination of his deal for the first time on Instagram, the former Chelsea and Middlesbrough star revealed that it was one of the hardest decisions he has had to make but being healthy and with his family during the pandemic is top on his priority.
Before the contract termination, Mikel had been one of Trabzonspor’s top performers and was instrumental in helping them to the top of the table.
