As a result of the spread of the deadly coronavirus, Africa’s men basketball league, which was supposed to start next week in Senegal, has been postponed.

Reports from BBC reveal that, the Basketball Africa League confirmed the cancellation was done after an advice from the Senegalese government.

The league which was a partnership with of America’s National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) was to bring together 12 teams from across Africa.

On the match schedules, the 12 teams that were to play are from Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, Egypt, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal and Tunisia.

Sor far on the coronavirus victims, the host Senegal, has confirmed two cases of coronavirus, bringing the total confirmed cases in Africa to 12.

Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria and Tunisia are the pther countries affected.
