Talented tennis player Rafael Nadal has cruised past Nick Kyrgio in a thrilling four-set match to reach the Australian Open quarter-finals.
Before 23rd seed Kyrgios provided his biggest test so far, Nadal had not dropped a set in this tournament.
Nadal came through 6-3 3-6 7-6 (8-6) 7-6 (7-4) beating Kyrgios, who wore a Kobe Bryant basketball shirt in the warm-up.
Concerning the next move for Nadal, he will face Austrian fifth seed Dominic Thiem in the last eight.
For a while, the relationship between Nadal and Kyrgios are not close, which has given room for rivalry blowing up last year after a tempestuous meeting in Acapulco.
On their rivalry, Nadal, 19-time Grand Slam champion had accused Kyrgios of lacking respect, before the Australian responded by calling him “super-salty”.
On the court, the respect for each other’s ability has rarely been in doubt.
