The plan to replace current Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde at some point in the future has begun.
The idea is not far fetched from the fact that Club legend Xavi Hernandez may be a potential replacement, since Barcelona officials went to Qatar on Friday to meet with the former Barcelona player.
Xavi spent four years as a player with Qatari side Al Sadd, before taking over as their manager in May 2019, after leaving Barcelona in 2015.
This development gained momentum when ESPN, sporting director Eric Abidal and CEO Òscar Grau took the opportunity to make the trip to Qatar after Barcelona’s Thursday’s 3-2 loss to Atlético Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.
Current coach, Ernesto Valverde’s contract is set to expire in the summer, with an option for Barcelona to extend it by a further year.
According to 90 Minutes sports, there are signs that they will opt to let Valverde walk away at the end of the season.
