Southampton gave Chelsea a Boxing Day surprise package by defeating the Blues 2-0, in a competitive premier league match on Thursday at Stamford Bridge.

Michael Obafemi and Nathan Redmond were not only in top form during the match, but showed class and crowned their efforts with great goals.

Obafemi, who is an academy product starting in place of the rested Danny Ings, opened scoring for Southampton.

After Chelsea had lost possession in midfield the agile forward curled home a stunning left-footed effort from the edge of the box (31).

It was the 19-year-old’s first Premier League goal in a year as things went from bad to worse for Chelsea when Redmond finished off another slick Southampton counter-attack (73) in the second half.

Chelsea were not able to replicate the feat they had against Tottenham despite the Blues possession and dominance.

Southampton claimed a deserved win which lifts them up to 14th in the Premier League table.
