Tottenham centre-half, Toby Alderweireld has signed a new three-and-a-half year contract with the club  putting an end to one of the Premier League’s longest-running contract sagas.

The deal will make the talented player, stay at the club beyond his 34th birthday, meaning that, he is committing his future to Spurs until 2023 which is thought to be worth around £150,000-a-week – three times bigger than his previous £50,000-a-week contract, was due to expire at the end of the current season.

Reports have it that the new Spurs manager Jose Mourinho, who was influential in persuading Alderweireld to finally commit his future at the club.

The new development is obviously a positive one for the Belgian, who has long wanted a lucrative contract to boost his career.

Considering the home front of former Ajax and Atletico Madrid defender, it was revealed that he is happy with his family in London, and his wife his wife is expecting a second child.
