The Nigeria Olympic Eagles on Tuesday won Zambia 3-1 at the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in their second Group B match.
The game was an interesting one because the Nigerians boys gave out their best on the pitch, especially in the second half to achieve such victory.
The Chipolopolo of Zambia almost dominated the game in the early part of the first half and they got a reward for their dominance as RB Salzburg’s Patson Daka opened the scoring in the 12th minute.
The Al Salam Stadium became tensed but also witnessed Orji Okwonkwo’s equaliser four minutes later.
Two Nigerian players Kelechi Nwakali and Taiwo Awoniyi added icing on the cake by scoring second half goals and completing the comeback win, which also served as an inspiration for Nigeria.
After this result from Imama Amapakabo’s boys, Nigeria have an edge to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games; the reaction from football enthusiasts and lovers has not been cordial, as there is a call for tactical improvement ahead of their final group game against South Africa on Friday.
