Head coach of Nigeria’s national cadet team, Manu Garba has attributed his side’s three-two victory over Ecuador in yesterday’s Group B fixture of the FIFA Under-Seventeen World Cup to resilience and a winning mentality.

Garba, speaking after the five-goal thriller, said though the South Americans were physical, technical and compact as a unit, his boys relied on their never-say-die attitude to book their place in the next round.

The former Gombe United handler, however, promised to work on the defensive lapses, which saw the Golden Eaglets’ concede four goals against Hungary and Ecuador, ahead of the knock-out stage of the tournament holding in Brazil.

Nigeria’s Ibrahim Said became the first player to score a hat-trick in Brazil.
