Tobi Amusan has won Team Nigeria’s first gold medal at the African Senior Athletics championship in Asaba, Delta state, winning the women’s one hundred metre hurdles event in twelve point eight six seconds.

Compatriot, Enekwechi Chukwuebuka also took the gold in the men’s shot put, while compatriot Temilola Ogunrinde won silver medal in the women’s Hammer throw.

Amusan and Enekwechi have now qualified her to represent Africa at the IAAF Continental Cup at Ostrava, Czech Republic in September.

In the women’s 100m, 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, Joy Udo-Gabriel also bronze for Nigeria after running 11.58secs to win bronze.

African sprint queen, Ivory Coast’s Marie Josee Ta Lou won the event with 11.15secs, while Ghana’s Janet Amponsah won silver, clocking 11.54secs.
