Aruna Quadri, Omar Assar Seeded For World Championship
Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri and Egypt’s Omar Assar have been listed among the 64 seeded players for the 2017 World Table Tennis Championships holding in Germany from the 29th of May to the 5thof June.
Quadri is seeded number 31 in the men’s singles while his continental rival Omar Assar is rated 50.
Over 600 athletes from 108 countries are expected to make the trip to Dusseldorf, Germany for the biggest table tennis event of the year.
For the first time in history, players from Afghanistan, Oman, Palestine and Tahiti will also be in Dusseldorf for the World Championship.
Wimbledon Organisers Unveil Prize Hike For 2017 Championship
This year's Wimbledon singles tennis champions will receive 2.2 million pounds each – a hike of 200,000 pounds for both the men's and women's winner, organisers said on Wednesday.
Tournament chiefs unveiled the increased winners’ cheques among an increased total prize pot of 31.6 million pounds, up from 28.1 million pounds last year.
The bigger pot benefits players throughout the draw, with first round singles losers set to walk away from the All England Club with 35,000 pounds.
In percentage terms, it is those first round losers who benefit the most – their 35,000 pounds prize being almost 17 percent up on last year, reflecting the club's commitment to the lower reaches of tennis.
Amir Khan Hopeful of Returning To the Ring In November
Former world light-welterweight champion Amir Khan says he hopes to return to the ring in November.
The Briton last fought in 2016 when he was knocked out in the sixth round by Mexico's Saul Alvarez for the WBC middleweight title.
Khan also stated that the victory of world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua over Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley will boost boxing.
Khan added that he would love end his career with a big fight like the one between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko before a full capacity stadium.
Joshua's stunning victory on Saturday took place in front of a post-war British record of 90,000 fans.

China based Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo, has partnered a tourism company in the country to help support children with sickle cell diseases.
This information was disclosed by his legal practitioners at a media briefing in Lagos.
According to Owolabi Oludare, Odion Ighalo, decided to partner the companies in a bid to keep supporting the destitute and to give hope to those that have none.
The tour which will take tourist to Dubai will give them an opportunity to have close interaction with Ighalo as well has feature in a five-aside beach soccer with the former Watford striker.
NPFL Champs Rangers Out Of Drop Zone
Nigerian champions Enugu Rangers bailed themselves out of relegation zone with a 1-0 win over NPFL table-toppers Plateau United inWednesday's rearranged match.
Fifteen minutes into the match, Rangers were awarded a spot kick which was saved by former Nigeria under-17 goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye.
Daniel Etor later got on the end of a perfectly whipped in cross to stamp home the ball past Ajiboye on 22 minutes.

Juventus closed in on a second Champions League final in three seasons as Gonzalo Higuain struck twice to beat Monaco in the semi-final first leg.
The French hosts started brightly, with Kylian Mbappe heading at Gianluigi Buffon before forcing another low save.
But Higuain ruthlessly finished two fine Dani Alves assists, sweeping the Brazilian's back heel in on 29 minutes.
Radamel Falcao went close for Monaco after the break before Alves' measured cross saw Higuain put Juve in control.
