Sowore Leads Protest Demanding Release of Nnamdi Kanu

The convener of the #RevolutionNow movement and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, on Monday led a fresh protest in Abuja, demanding the immediate release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The protesters, who converged in the nation’s capital, called on the Federal Government to respect and comply with multiple court orders that have granted Kanu’s release.

Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 2021, facing a seven-count charge bordering on terrorism and treasonable felony.

Despite several court rulings in his favour, the government has yet to release him , a situation that has continued to fuel public outrage and renewed agitation in different parts of the country.
