SMOTY 2025: Keyamo, Silva Thank Silverbird for Recognition
Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva have expressed appreciation to the Silverbird Group for honouring them at the 2025 Silverbird Man of the Year Awards.
Both recipients spoke during the grand finale of the awards ceremony held at the Eko Hotel and Suites on Sunday.
Keyamo, who was honoured with the Minister of the Year Award, said the recognition would serve as motivation for him to intensify reforms and development in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The minister noted that the award demonstrated that the organisers were closely monitoring the performance of government officials.
According to him, ongoing upgrades and rehabilitation works across airports in the country are part of the government’s commitment to improving aviation infrastructure and maintaining global standards.
Decked in a white outfit at the ceremony, Keyamo assured that the Federal Government would continue to invest in modernising the aviation industry to enhance safety, efficiency and passenger experience.
Similarly, veteran actress Joke Silva, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award, described the honour as one she would cherish for the rest of her life.
The respected thespian expressed gratitude to Silverbird for recognising her contributions to the Nigerian film industry despite the many talented actors in Nollywood.

A major highlight of the presentation was when colleagues, dignitaries and admirers in attendance rose to give her a standing ovation.
Silva’s career spans decades, during which she has not only excelled on screen but also influenced generations of actors and creatives through mentorship and professional excellence.

Many observers at the event noted that her legacy extends beyond film, as her contributions continue to inspire practitioners within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Also awarded at the night was Omoni Oboli, a popular actor and producer with Silverbird Trailblazer Award. She appreciated the organisers, saying that she really values the recognition.
Makun
Comedian and Actor Ayo “AY” Makun was physically present to receive the Silverbird Trailblazer Award on the night. He commended the organisers for the honour.
