SILVERBIRD MAN OF THE YEAR: Joke Silva, AY Makun and Omoni Oboli Honoured at 20th Awards
The 20th Silverbird Man of the Year Awards was a bright and lively event celebrating excellence, influence and service to Nigeria. Well-known figures from entertainment, politics, business and public service gathered for an evening of recognition.
The event had a stylish and joyful atmosphere. Guests celebrated individuals whose work has made a strong impact on Nigeria’s social, cultural and political life.
Entertainment Stars in the Spotlight
Actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli and comedian AY Makun received the Trailblazer Awards.

They were honoured for their achievements and for helping to grow Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Omoni Oboli thanked the organisers and spoke about the importance of hard work and creativity. AY Makun dedicated his award to young creatives who are working hard to succeed.

Veteran actress Joke Silva received the Lifetime Achievement Award. She was given a standing ovation for her many years of work in theatre, television and film, and for mentoring young actors. Many people described the award as a well-deserved honour.

The main Silverbird Man of the Year Award went to Bassey Edet Otu for his leadership and service in government.

They were honoured for their lasting contributions to politics, business and traditional leadership.
The ceremony was hosted by Peter Okwoche and Victory Wilson. Many top officials, business leaders and entertainers attended, showing the importance of the awards.
For more than 20 years, the Silverbird Man of the Year Awards has celebrated people who have made outstanding contributions to Nigeria. The 21st edition once again highlighted the importance of recognising and encouraging excellence.
