The Governor of Delta state, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has emerged as the Silverbird Man of the Year 2014.
Governor Uduaghan emerged winner of the prestigious award in a very tight contest among six nominees.
Governor Uduaghan was nominated for restoring peace and security to Delta state, massive infrastructural development, free medical care for children and the elderly and his acclaimed micro credit scheme.
Past winners of the prestigious Silverbird Man  of the Year Award which is now in its 10th year, include late Professor Dora Akunyili, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state, Doctor Mike Adenuga and Doctor Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
Others are Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom state, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state, former Anambra state Governor, Peter Obi and former CBN Govermor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who is now the Emir of Kano.
The 10th anniversary of the prestigious Silverbird Man of the Year Award also features special awards  to some individuals and groups.
The Silverbird Extraordinary Achievement Award goes to Innocent Chukwuma Chairman of Innoson Motors the first indigenous vehicle manufacturing plant in Nigeria and Dr. Akinwumi Adeshina for his positive efforts in boosting local food production and drastically reducing the importation of foodstuff.
A Post-humous award will be bestowed on foremost human rights activist and social crusader, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, the famed  apostle of politics without bitterness, Alhaji Ibrahim Waziri and former Govermor of old Imo state, Dr. Sam Mbakwe.
A Silverbird Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to acclaimed orator and former Nigeria permanent representative to the United Nations, Dr. Maitama Sule, former  Federal Permanent Secretary, Doctor Philip Asiodu and a technocrat, administrator and businessman, Dr. Gamaliel Onosode.
The Silverbird Group will  also give special recognition to those who contained the Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria. They include the medical team of First Consultant Hospital led by Doctor Ameyo Adadevoh, the Lagos State Government, the Rivers State Government and the Federal Ministry of Health.
The Silverbird Man of the Year Award ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 3 2015 The Red Carpet starts at 4 p.m. and The Live Broadcast at 5 p.m prompt. at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos, Nigeria. The event will be televised live to a Global Audience via satellite and through terrestrial signals nationally on all Silverbird Television stations, the Nigerian Television Authority, and other television stations.
