Shettima Receives Delta Leaders, Supporters To APC

Shettima Welcomes Delta Leaders, Supporters to APC, Declares Them Co-Owners

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday formally received Delta State Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and their numerous supporters into the All Progressives Congress (APC). Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the event in Asaba, VP Shettima hailed the occasion as a testament to the APC’s enduring appeal, emphasizing that the new entrants are now integral members and co-owners of the governing party, not mere guests.

Addressing the former PDP stalwarts, Shettima stressed the significance of their decision, noting that their conviction in joining the APC speaks volumes about the party’s strength and vision for a better Nigeria. He underscored the APC’s philosophy of unity in diversity, assuring the new members that their voices and contributions will be valued as the party works collaboratively towards national progress.

APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje described the defection of Governor Oborevwori as a historic political development, attributing the party’s growing attractiveness to President Tinubu’s leadership. Governor Oborevwori, speaking on behalf of the new members, stated that their move was a collective decision by Delta State stakeholders to align with the ruling party and reciprocate President Tinubu’s goodwill towards the state.

The event witnessed a strong showing of APC leaders, including numerous state governors and federal lawmakers, signifying the party’s unified embrace of the new members. Former Governor Okowa affirmed that the decision to join the APC was in the best interest of Delta State, aiming to connect the state to the center for greater developmental benefits.
