The senate is demanding the immediate resignation of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal.
This is after the interim report of the Ad-hoc Committee on mounting humanitarian crisis in the north-east indicted his office  in a N108 million contract scam.
The committee in its report discovered that contracts from the presidential initiative on north-east were awarded to companies belonging to top government officials.
The report also revealed that the SGF took undue advantage of the provision of emergency situation of contract award in the public procurement act, 2007  to over inflate contracts.

However, Lawal  has reacted to the call for his resignation by the senate, describing it as balderdash.
