A military jet has crashed in Abuja on Sunday, leaving seven persons dead.

The Nigerian Air Force on Sunday said seven passengers onboard a Beechcraft KingAir B350i aircraft died when the jet crashed in Abuja.

After the incident occurred, the Federal Ministry of Aviation, disclosed that the jet owned by the Nigeria Air Force reported an engine failure at about 10.39am before the crash.

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has also confirmed the incident and identified the military aircraft as King Air 350.

Sirika, while reacting to the development stated in a tweet: “A military aircraft King Air 350 has just crashed short of our Abuja runway after reporting engine failure enroute Minna. It appears to be fatal. We should remain calm & wait for the outcome of investigation by the military, while we pray for the departed soul/souls if any.”

Meanwhile, measures to curb the situation have been put in place by the Firefighters. They are currently on the ground battling to put out the fire at the site of the crash.
