A 35-year-old man, Tochukwu Chidi, has been allegedly beaten and stabbed to death by four members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) in the Bariga area of Lagos State.

The four members of the Oodua People’s Congress have been have been arrested by the police operatives attached to the Bariga Division of the Lagos State Police Command.

On the reason for their act, sources disclosed that Chidi had an argument with the OPC men, which degenerated into a fight, and in the process, the OPC members allegedly stabbed him to death.

In reaction to the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Sunday said operatives attached to the Bariga Police Division arrested the OPC members, who allegedly stabbed Chidi, 35, to death after an argument with them on Temple Street, Bariga.

In Adejobi’s words, “The suspects attacked the deceased and inflicted injuries on him. He was rushed to the General Hospital, Bariga, for treatment but he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

“The suspects are Sunday Onilede, 35; Azan Razak, 35; Abdullahi Ibrahim, 29; and Fatai Taiwo, 40. The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has condemned the act and directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba for proper investigation and prosecution.”
