The Western Nigeria Security Network code Amotekun, this Thursday, was Officially Launched and began operation in Oyo State.
The official launch of the Security Network was held at the Oyo State Governor’s Office Car Park, Secretariat Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo state.
Amotekun, created by the six governors of the southwest region today, 9th of January, 2020, commenced operation across the South Western zone to complement the country’s security agencies in a bid for peace in the region.
Also, about 133 vehicles was Launched as part of the equipments to be used for the operation Amotekun, by governors of the Southwest states in Nigeria led by the chairman, Western Nigeria Governor’s Forum (WNGF), Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu.
In his keynote address, the chairman, Western Nigeria Governor’s Forum (WNGF), Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, stated that no state is immuned from insecurity challenges in the six states of the southwest region.
The development is also an idea that led to the combined efforts by the southwest governors in creating the joint security Network code name, Amotekun.
In his remark, the host governor, engineer Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, said the newly launched security Network, will compliment the already established security agencies in the country to reduce crime and criminality to the barest minimum.
