As a result of the clash between rival members of the Aiye and Eiye confraternities in Ikorodu, Lagos State, two persons have been reportedly killed.

An eyewitness who reported to Punch Metro revealed that many people were also injured in the clash that occurred on Alhaji Qudus Giwa Street, near the Oando filling station, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Speaking further, the eyewitness said,  policemen have evacuated one of the corpses after the clash, which occurred last Thursday around 7pm.

It was also reported that many people, who were returning from work and markets, got injured, because the fight was sudden and were also ignorant of what caused of the fight.

Emmanuel, a resident of the Ikorodu disclosed that, the clash was between members of the Aiye and Eiye confraternities.

Speaking further about the reason for the clash, emmanuel said, two persons were killed at different locations in Ikorodu during a supremacy battle by the cultists a week earlier, and stressed that, the cult clashes in area had become so frequent that residents were no longer safe.

Ayo, another eyewitness telling his own part of the story said, he does not know what led to the fight between the two cult groups, emphasizing that cult clashes in Ikorodu seem to be endless.

In his words, he said, “I don’t know what led to their fight. Cult clashes in Ikorodu seem to be endless. The police themselves are worried about the frequent cult-related clashes and killings in Ikorodu.

“As the police succeed in quelling a particular clash, three or four others will surface within 24 hours. Nobody can actually tell what they have been fighting for. I think this is beyond the supremacy stuff.”

On the awareness of the police about the clash, So far,  DSP Bala Elkana, the the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, said he would confirm the clash from the divisional police officer in charge of the area.
