Despite the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Benue State, the crisis between herdsmen and farmers has not abated as 16 people have been killed in a fresh attack.

The Benue State Police Command spokesman, ASP, Moses Yamu said that 16 people mostly woen and children were killed  on Monday  in a fresh clash at Omutu community in Okpokwu local government area of Benue state.

He said  one of the deceased was a herdsman, adding, ” It was a reprisal attack on the community by the angry herdsmen.”

“We received information from the security adviser of Okpokwu local government that some irate youths from Omutu engaged some herdsmen in a fight, maiming some cows while two herdsmen were missing,” he said.
