Sad, Dark Day In Benue

It was not on January 1 and 2 when the Fulani herdsmen killed scores of peasant farmers, their wives and children but on Thursday January 12, 2018 when the state Government did a mass burial for 73 innocent victims of the killer herdsmen.

Seventy three coffins containing bodies of the young citizens were laid into the grave never to rise again.

It was a day the land was filled with tears, emotions and anger. Politicians, elders and youths of the state mourned the death of their loved ones.

Their anger was visible and in their resolve, if the present government of Muhammadu Buhari would not protect them, a legion of militia could rise to stop the Janjaweed in herdsmen trade.

As he put it, a leader of the Tiv nation and the chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, Wantaregh Unongo, people of Benue may raise army to protect their children if the Muhammadu Buhari led government would not do so.
