The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki has announced a minor reshuffle in the leadership of the standing committees of the senate.
With the shake up , former Senate Majority Leader, Ali Ndume was pacified with the chairmanship of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while the former chairman of INEC, Senator Abba Kyari now heads the committee on defence which was formerly chaired by the new senate Majority Leader Ahmed Lawal.
others who were affected by the reshuffle are Senator George Sekibo as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Interior, while his counterpart Magnus Abe heads the committee on FERMA..
Also Senator Attai Idoko is to head the Committee on Sustainable Development Goals.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives yesterday adjourned plenary to give room for the commencement of the 2017 budget defence.
Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Representative Abdulrazak Namdas told newsmen in Abuja that the house would resume plenary on February 21.
According to him, the decision of the house to suspend plenary was to provide the lawmakers the opportunity to meet the deadline for the passage of the budget.
