A particular advertisement, showing same-sex couples kissing on the Instagram pages of Italian luxury fashion house, Dolce & Gabbana has triggered reactions from Russian prosecutor who says it should be banned.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the call for a ban of the advert came after the  lawmaker lodged a complaint about them, CNN reports.
The St Petersburg courts press service also disclosed that Mikhail Romanov, filed the complaint about the ads posted under the @dolcegabbana handle.
Romanov is a member of the ruling United Russia party who sits in the Duma, or lower house of parliament,
The two short videos were part of the Italian fashion house’s global “Love is Love” campaign in the run-up to Valentine’s Day.
Regardless of the same-sex relationships which are legal in Russia, the prosecutor called the attention of the public to the  2013 law which bans disseminating “propaganda on non-traditional sexual relations” among young Russians.
Human rights groups after saying it has helped increase social hostility towards homosexuality, also went ahead to condemned the legislation.
Meanwhile, in the midst of all the reactions on the issue, the fashion house, Dolce & Gabbana has declined to comment on the case.
