A Ukrainian women have reportedly been raped by invading soldiers as the war continues in Kyiv and other parts of the country.

One of the victims, a 50-year-old woman whose name was changed to protect her identity narrated her ordeal from a quiet, rural neighbourhood 70km (45miles) west of Kyiv.

Anna who spoke to BBC said on 7 March she had been at home with her husband when a foreign soldier barged in.

“At gunpoint, he took me to a house nearby. He ordered me: ‘Take your clothes off or I’ll shoot you.’ He kept threatening to kill me if I didn’t do as he said. Then he started raping me,” she said.

According to Anna, her attacker was as a young, thin, Chechen fighter allied with Russia.

Speaking further, she revealed that she believes she was saved by a separate unit of Russian soldiers while the inhuman act was being carried out.

“While he was raping me, four more soldiers entered. I thought that I was done for. But they took him away. I never saw him again,” She said.

After her encounter with the soldiers, Anna went back home and found her husband dead. “He had tried to run after me to save me, but he was hit by a round of bullets,”

she said.

It was also confirmed by Anna that her husband died of his injuries two days later after they both sought shelter in a neighbour’s house.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t take her him to hospital because of the ongoing war.
