Russian Football Union is planning to appeal its bans by FIFA and UEFA to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The decision of the football union follows the ban of the Russian national teams from international competitions by the renowned sports association after the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

According to a statement by the union, there is a plan to file one lawsuit against the two governing bodies to demand that Russian men’s and women’s national teams be allowed to compete in competitions.

Interestingly, the Russian football Union also wants their appeal to include in qualifying for this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Initially, the ban by FIFA allows that Russia to play under the ‘Football Union or Russia’ name, and without their flag or anthem being present at matches.

Unfortunately, a joint statement with FIFA and UEFA was released on Monday, announcing Russia’s national teams, plus its clubs, were banned from all competitions.
