The House of Representatives has constituted an adhoc committee to investigate the return, re-absorption and subsequent elevation of Abdulrasheed Maina from the rank of Assistant Director to the position of an acting Director in the Ministry of Interior, with strong sanctions against persons implicated in the scandal.
This followed a motion under matters of urgent public importance moved by representative Adams Jagaba.
Also, the senate has resolved to investigate the circumstances that led to the reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina, back into the civil service.
The lawmakers, after several deliberations, asked Chairmen and vice- Chairmen of Committees on Interior, Judiciary, Anti-corruption and Public Service Establishment, to determine the circumstances surrounding Maina’s return to the country.
They are also to investigate how he was reinstated to the service and got promoted to the post of director after dismissal.
