President Vladimir Putin has been cut off by Russian state television while speaking at Moscow’s packed Luzhniki stadium at the eighth anniversary of Crimea’s annexation on Friday.

Instead of Putin reflecting while making his speech, there was patriotic songs being played at the event.

Meanwhile, one concert-goer said Putin, had finished his speech and left the stage.

Going memory lane, Russia recently sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine on Feb. 24 in an effort to degrade its southern neighbour’s military capabilities and root out people it called dangerous nationalists.

Interestingly, the situation in the country has been different, since Russian forces started carrying out Putin’s instruction of demilitarising Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces have mounted stiff resistance and the West has imposed sweeping sanctions on Russia in an effort to force it to withdraw its forces.
