Prince Olusi Pledges Rapid Development If Crowned Olu of Kobape

One of the leading contenders for the vacant traditional stool of Kobape town in Ogun State, Prince Babatunde Alani Solomon Olusi, has pledged to drive rapid development in the community if he is eventually crowned the Olu of Kobape.

Prince Olusi, a businessman and entrepreneur, made the pledge in a statement made available to journalists, describing his aspiration for the throne as a commitment to service and sustainable development of his ancestral home.

Olusi is the sole candidate from the Ogunsoro Olusi Family of the Oluwo-Adifala Compound, Ago Oba, Abeokuta, and said he intends to bring his wealth of experience, exposure, and leadership capacity to strengthen the traditional institution and accelerate community growth.

He contended with 41 other people but the number has since been trimmed down to two of which he is one.

In a document titled “Autobiography and Manifestos of Mr. Babatunde Alani Solomon Olusi (JP)”, the prince outlined his vision for Kobape and its surrounding villages.

“My vision for Kobape and the neighbouring communities is to make them a beacon of hope, peace and development, where indigenes and residents have access to quality education, healthcare and economic opportunities,” he stated.

According to him, security and safety would be a priority of his reign, noting that a peaceful environment is essential for economic activities and investment to thrive.

“The security of lives and property in Kobape is germane to development. I will ensure this during my obaship,” Olusi said.

He further pledged to foster unity and collaboration among indigenes, residents, and visitors, stressing that inclusive leadership would be the cornerstone of his reign.

“If crowned, I will promote community ownership and participation, regardless of age, gender or social status,” he said.

Drawing from his experience as a community leader in different places where he has lived and worked, Prince Olusi said his reign would focus strongly on youth empowerment, job creation, and economic expansion.

“My mission includes promoting economic growth, creating jobs, and opening opportunities for our youths. I will also improve infrastructure by ensuring access to clean water, reliable energy and good roads,” he said.

He added that farmers, artisans and small business owners would receive support through exposure to modern business practices and access to profit-enhancing opportunities.

On education, Olusi—an educator and proprietor of Green Crest International Schools, Magboro—listed the improvement of educational standards and the establishment of vocational training programmes as key agenda items.

In the health sector, he said his administration would work towards upgrading existing health facilities and facilitating access to medical care through partnerships with local and state governments.

“This will help promote healthy living and disease prevention,” he said.

Prince Olusi also promised to pursue the rehabilitation of the Kobape Better Life Market, support local businesses and farmers, and attract investors capable of creating employment opportunities for residents.

Security, he noted, would receive special attention, with plans to establish a police station in the town.

“One of my paramount agenda is to ensure the construction and inauguration of a police station in Kobape to protect lives and property and prevent crime. This will be done in collaboration with other security agencies,” he said.

Prince Olusi is a seasoned businessman and professional artisan specialising in auto engineering, particularly the re-grinding of motor vehicle crankshafts. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Iron Rods Sales Company, Magboro, and is also involved in the importation of hides and skins from the Republic of Chad into Nigeria through business partnerships.

He is a graduate of the Tai Solarin College of Education, now Tai Solarin University of Education, where he obtained a National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Economics and Social Studies.

His philanthropic activities and community service have earned him several chieftaincy titles, including Otun Baale of Ekiti Nla, Jaguna of Igan-un Town, and Mayegun of Oke Ayo, Magboro, all within Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
