President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to the Nigerian Police Force and the family of Solomon Ehigiator Arase, the 18th Inspector-General of Police, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 69. The President highlighted Arase’s significant contributions, noting that his reforms as IGP and later as Chairman of the Police Service Commission brought lasting changes to the force.

President Tinubu praised the late police chief’s dedication to national security, citing his role in establishing key initiatives like the Intelligence Response Team and the Complaint Response Unit. He reflected on Arase’s distinguished career, which spanned from 1981 to 2016 and included various tactical, operational, and intelligence roles, as well as a UN peacekeeping mission in Namibia.

Describing Arase as a “dedicated security expert,” President Tinubu acknowledged his continued service to the nation post-retirement, including his leadership of the Police Service Commission. He also mentioned Arase’s consultancy work with various national and international bodies, emphasizing that his experience and contributions will be profoundly missed.
