President of Liberia and three-time African Player of the Year George Weah, has congratulated Sadio Mane for winning CAF award as the 2019 African Player of the Year.

Weah also expressed his joy at seeing Liverpool star Mane, win the award for best player on the continent for the first time  on Tuesday, beating Riyad Mahrez and Mohamed Salah to the honour.

The Liverpool star feat also made Weah express his concern about the emerging  potential footballers; stressing that they should see Mane as an inspiration.

Mane, 27, who had a successful year with the Reds, also won the Champions League, Uefa Super Cup, and Club World Cup with the Anfield giants in 2019, while being joint-top scorer in the Premier League with 22 goals.

President Weah tweeted via his handle. His tweet read:

“I wish to congratulate Sadio Mane for winning the African Player of the Year Award,”
