Portable Arraigned Before Federal High Court

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeed Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, over nine criminal charges.
The charges include assault, theft, causing bodily harm and resisting arrest.

The case followed a viral video that showed the singer in police custody. The arrest was linked to a complaint filed by his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple.

Prosecutors told the court that Portable allegedly attacked Ashabi and several other people at his bar on New Year’s Day. He is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at N12 million.

Two of Ashabi’s siblings gave evidence in court. A police inspector also testified that the singer obstructed and assaulted her while she was carrying out her duties.

The court refused Portable’s bail application and ordered that he be remanded in custody. The case was adjourned to January 19 for a fresh hearing.
