Due to signs of bitter power struggle in Downing Street, Boris Johnson’s communications director, Lee Cain has resigned.

According to Evening Standard, the former journalist disclosed in a statement that, after “careful consideration” he had decided to leave Number 10 at the end of the year.

This development occurred less than 24 hours after it was disclosed that he was to be promoted to the key position of Prime Minister Mr Johnson’s chief of staff.

, On his work history, Mr Cain was a close ally of Dominic Cummings, Mr Johnson’s chief adviser having worked with him on the Brexit campaign.

Meanwhile, speculations have been circulating that Mr Cummings could follow him, after Mr Cain announced his resignation.
