State Governors from the southeastern part of Nigeria have opposed to the Federal Government’s plan to establish cattle ranches in their states.
The states include, Imo, Anambra, Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi. In a communique released after the meeting of the southeast Governors Forum in Enugu on Sunday, the governors kicked against creation of ranches on Igbo land, saying that the region has no enough land for ranching.
The Chairman of the forum, the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi said that the governors would like to meet with the country’s security service chiefs to address the issue.
He said that the governors had taken the decision so that the alleged attacks of innocent Nigerians by herdsmen would not spread to the eastern part.
