Police Summon Officers Caught in Viral Video Extorting Motorists in Benin

The Nigeria Police Force has identified and summoned officers seen in a viral video extorting motorists in Benin City, Edo State.

In the footage, a police officer is heard demanding ₦5,000 or five litres of fuel from travellers who failed to provide proof of registration on the Electronic Central Motor Registry (e-CMR).

Reacting to public outrage, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, strongly condemned the misconduct and confirmed that the officers involved have been summoned for disciplinary action.

Adejobi reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to rooting out corruption and urged Nigerians to continue reporting similar incidents through official channels.
