Abuja, Nigeria – May 15, 2025
The Nigeria Police Force has re-arraigned controversial social media influencer, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), before a Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations of cyberbullying.
VDM is accused of targeting prominent Nollywood actresses Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh, as well as music producer and singer Samuel Oguachuba, known professionally as Samklef, among others.
The social activist was re-arraigned on Thursday before Justice Musa Liman on a five-count charge. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The offences are said to contravene Section 24 of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, which criminalizes cyberstalking and related online abuses.
VDM was initially arraigned on May 22, 2024, before Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon for similar offences, but the case has now been reassigned.
The development marks another chapter in the ongoing legal battle surrounding the controversial online figure, who has built a reputation for outspoken commentary on social and entertainment issues in Nigeria.
The court is expected to set a date for the commencement of trial.
